It isn't always paradise in the caribbean! Island life has its downs and there are hospitals here too! I spent the last 36 hours at the hospital connected to an I.V. I got some sort of bacteria in my white blood cells. Not an ideal way to spend Hurricane Gustav! Instead of bonding with my community in the rain I was stuck in the hospital. I am feeling much better now though. I am out, the rain has calmed down and I should be back to site just as soon as they let us out of standfast!

I left my house key with one of the girls and instead of hosting a keg party, my Club de Chicas made juice and cookies to welcome my mom and sister! This may not be a big deal to the naked eye, but this small gesture is kind of a milestone in my little piece corps life. Every meeting I have for my Club de Chicas, I always provide the snack be it cookies, crackers, juice, what have you, as what we call and incentivo. All I did for this was pitch in my 10 pesos and they handled the rest. They collected the money from people in our group, organized and put together a welcome party! It is rare to see that I am appreciated and this was billboard size for me.
My girls had my sis on the dance floor within moments of their arrival!
