These are a few of my favorite things....

Raindrops on “techos” and whiskers on kittens
Bright rays of sunlight and waking up unbitten!

no, this isn't the sound of music, but I do love the sound of rain on my tin roof (techo) when I am taking a nap. I love sitting on the "porch" and watching the sunset over the palm trees. I love when my little, two-year old brother falls asleep in my arms at night. I love how excited my entire family gets whenever I come back to the house even if I have only been gone for 5 minutes. I love sharing a sprite with all five of my family members. I love reading Corduroy in Spanish and keeping the attention of a 23 year old tough guy. I love amazing the basket man every time I weave straw together with him. I love sitting in my house while there is a chicken flying through the kitchen, a goat perched on the steps, a rooster crowing on the table all while my 6 year old sister tries on every article of clothing in the entire house. There are oh so many things I love about this Batey. Then again, there is plenty I could do without, but I will wait for another blog to do that. This one is to keep things in the Holiday Spirit!
Love to the U.S.

Here are the actual lyrics if I got this in your head….

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites (p.s. a dog did bite me on Christmas Eve)
When the bee stings (not yet!)
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
